Hotel Academie

Rating:
The Hotel Academie is situated in a quiet street in the historic centre of Bruges, within walking distance of the tourist and cultural attractions for which this medieval Flemish city is justly famous, and which make the Academie an ideal base to explore on foot. Thus only 50 metres away can be found the famous Minnewater or Lake of Love, and within walking distance such architectural treasures as the Begijnhof or Beguine Convent, and the St. Jans Hospitaal which houses the Hans Memling Museum of Flemish Renaissance art. The whole of the city centre is indeed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, containing a number of priceless medieval churches and civic buildings, as well as crow-step gabled houses lining canals that earned for Bruges the title of Venice of the North. Although the Hotel itself occupies a building that dates back to the beginning of the last century, and has a medieval-style, brick-vaulted breakfast room and a Rococo-style lounge with complimentary Wi-Fi access, all of the 90 guest rooms are thoroughly modern and tastefully furnished in a contemporary style with private en-suite bathrooms. The Academie also offers a modern bar, lifts, winter garden and central-courtyard sun terrace, as well as secure, underground on-site car-parking. There is in addition a well-equipped fitness room that is open from 8am to 8pm with a massage service available, and the Hotel reception - with luggage storage - is manned 24 hours a day by a multi-lingual staff who are happy to assist with guest enquires for tourist information. Although baby cots and infant beds are available at additional charge, neither pets nor smoking are allowed in the Hotel.
