Two early 19th-century, aristocratic-style townhouses were joined to create Astoria Garden Hotel. Eight marble steps lead from the street to a tall pair of antique oak doors that open to a white-marble reception area decorated with antiques and a small ceramic art piece. There is also a courtyard garden filled with orange trees, banana palms, and other Mediterranean plants. The hotel draws American and European tourist couples, along with a few Italian business travelers.
